The weather in the Var.
Global Warming has made considerable changes to the weather patterns normally experienced during the year. Generally the winters are warmer with long dry periods. Frosts can occur on clear windless nights Average daytime temperature range 10 to 17 C.
The spring may start dry , but significant amounts of rain can occur in May and June. Average daytime temperature range 16 to 28 C
Summer is hot and dry, but some thunder storms can occur. Daytime temperature range from 25 to 32 C. In calm clear weather the night time temperature can drop quite significantly, perhaps as much as 12 C below the daytime value.
Autumn can be dry as well but there are likely to be more thunder storms
and perhaps some days of more general rain towards November. Average daytime temperature range from 15 to 28 C.
A strong wind called a Mistral, can get up at any time of the year. It is dry wind, hot in summer, creating dangerous conditions for forest fires, and cold in winter. It can blow for several days at a time and is generally detested by everyone. It does however bring very clear dry air and the days after it has died down are usually very beautiful, with spectacular sunsets. Lens shaped clouds in the western sky will tell you that a Mistral is about to get up.
PLEASE BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO START A FOREST FIRE.
WATER IS PRECIOUS. PLEASE USE IT CAREFULLY.
